Special #4: "Oh, there's just one little thing!"

Columbo is one of the most famous crime fighters in the history of television. His first appearance was on the "Chevy Mystery Show" on NBC in 1960.
But it was not before 1971, when the scatterbrained detective was played by Peter Falk that the rise to tv-glory began. Now there are over 70 shows and I hope that some are still to be made.

I collected - as a tribute to my favorite crime solver - everything I could find on the Internet and put it here:

Let's start with the obvious: Of course there is a Wikipedia entry for "Columbo", and - even better - it is quite good. It tells the funny story of Phillip and Frank Columbo and of Captain Janeway as Mrs. Columbo, lists all episodes, murderers and victims and hosts a biography of the little lieutenant. (Who never was promoted in 30 years of duty! Shame on the LAPD!)

And there is the IMDB obviously which is quite usable for its ratings and the user comments, if you are not sure whether you know an episode already or not.

The Museum of Broadcast Communication honours Columbo too, and you can find some interesting details here.

Peter Falk sports his own homepage. Look especially at his drawings and paintings, which showcase his talent with pencils and colors. Quite erotic works there, and you can even buy an original "Peter Falk", if you got blank walls near your t.v. set.

Naturally there are plenty of fanpages out there in the Wild Wild Web, but "The Ultimate Columbo Site" bears its name with proud. Here you can find many, many devotional objects and background information, so I follow my obligation as a signpost if I point you there. Especially enlightening is an interview with Richard Levinson and William Link (sic!) "How we created Columbo, and how he nearly killed us."
(Who would have thought THAT about C.?)

A special kind of worshipping is fanfiction. But sometimes it is utterly exhausting to seperate the wheat from the chaff. In the case of Columbo you will soon find some very entertaining content on this Columbo Fanfic Page.

If you really want to fight out the battle raging between Columbo and Quincy you can do it online HERE. (It's not like King Kong and Godzilla, more like Guybrush Threepwood against the Stooges...)

If you want to build an altar, you may need a Columbo figurine. Unfortunately I found none. Nada. Zero. But someone found a workaround and displays how he managed to build his Columbo out of parts of plastic German soldiers and a lot of time. He'll show you HERE. ("Cut Rommels legs off" is the weirdest instuction I ever read in a constuction manual...)

Find all the worthy images, cartoons and drawings I found on the web glued to the bottom of this article.

PS I: If you plan to buy Columbo-stuff, use the Amazon-links on the sidebar, such tipping us for building a Columbo-altar.

PS II: If you want to comment on this Special or got further information or images, check the article in the "regular" In-Sect blog, which points here.
