Special #3: Google, the Movie

I don't know your opinion on Google. Many people seem to be afraid of its influence now that it has grown up to be a REAL big shot in the World Wide Web. I still remember the first time I surfed to the brandnew search machine. And - wow! - was it simple. A nice logo, a few letters here and there and the cursor blinking in right place, waiting impatiently for my input. Over the years Goggle grew and left Altavista, HotBot, Lycos and Yahoo behind. It was fast, reliable and led to the better results.

Now it offers every service you can imagine. A picture browser, thousands of digitized books, a traffic tracker, free mailboxes, its own blog, an engine to compare prices online, the complete Earth, or Google Base, a service I do not even begin to understand.

Every week brings new surprises. But though I am a bit scared too - I still am in love. So, Google, don't be cruel to a heart that's true.

BTW: Do you know who creates the Google-logos? It is Dennis Hwang, who works for Google since 2000. Read this article about him, it even features a small interview. And if you want to design your own logo in Google-style, go here. And if you want to be informed about Google related news, visit the blog of Phillip. Want to hear the view point of a critic? Visit Google-Watch. And if you want to buy a really bizarre product in the official Google shop, try Google Goo.

PS I: Four of the best logos didn't fit in the movie design, so I attached them after this article.

PS II: No, these are not ALL Google-logos. As Google is available in many countries, it's count of regional logos is massive.

PS III: If you want to comment on this Special, check the article in the "regular" blog.
