The In-Sect: It's life itself!

The Tale of the Gnawing Scrimshanks

Ben Yoskovitz from the Instigator Blog started a Group Writing Meme called The Ultimate Guide to Productivity. Paul Enderson, whose personal blog Reflections is on my reading list every day tagged me.
Me! Mr. I’ll-have-another-cup-first! Mr. Got-To-Think-Over-It-First! Thank you! So, what could I say? Well, it certainly helped when I stopped boozing every night. (Just kidding!)

My Fairy Tale about Productivity

There is always something left undone – something boring, annoying or just too exhausting: A scrimshank!
May it be calling the bank and begging for a credit, combing your image database, making the oh, so necessary backup or writing your dunning letters. I used to do the creative work first, then I answered to spam mails with philosophical tracts, spent hours on the phone until the day was gone and no time for the scrimshanks was left. After some time they started to spawn (Thus prooving there are male and female ones!) until they conquered a whole floor of our little house.
Then my sleep problems started: They stood at my bedside, lolled on my pillow and had sex on my bedside table!
When I started to attend the inconvenient tasks FIRST every day, everything changed. The scrimshanks died of starvation and my work was so much easier to do without them gnawing at my conscience. (Get the picture?) And when you write your dunnings early you might not have to beg for money in front of some young bank clerk with halitosis.
