When I was young, I really wanted to be a movie celebrity! (To be honest: I wanted to be a superhero, but don’t tell anyone!) But as we all know: When George Washington visits – his buddy Johnnie Walker is always with him!
Before Betty Ford told America about her drug addictions in 1978, the problems of high society with distilled beverages were kept secret even by the media. Nowadays it seems like a rehab is a normal routine in the life of a movie star, and a problem for spin doctors and not for those doctors with a more medical schooling. The second thing that comes to mind: Rehab doesn’t work to well when you’re rich and famous!
Let’s have a closer look at the facilities frequented by Hollywood’s most famous drinkers:
Classic! First clinic where you were not strapped to your bed through withdrawal. In comparison to the following establishments it has the charme of a cadet school. Homepage
Very popular! (Ben Affleck, Britney Spears, Robert Downey Jr.) Whoever branded “Promises” deserves an oscar for marketing! But sometimes promises are neglected. Styling is a little too mixed IMHO and white lillies on the table? Vanitas vanitatum extra Deum? Homepage
The desert can be fun, if you spend a fortune! Kate Moss and Whitney Houston know that. Ah, what time we had watchin all these phallic cactuses! Homepage
Well known for a visit of Lindsay Lohan. (What was she famous for, again?) Very stylish! Especially the rustic table standing on silver antlers is extraordinary, Göring – being a drug addict himself – would have liked that! Homepage
Nice, a room with a view! This one is especially interesting, because Courtney Love didn’t pay her $ 180,000 bill after staying for three weeks. This makes about 8,500 a day. In Johnny Walkers (Red Label, Europe): 284 bottles a day! Homepage
Note: I’m not trying to poke fun at drug addicts here! I really believe alcohol is a serious threat to our society. But the way celebrities handle their addictions is, too!
It is very, very courageous to declare one’s problems with addiction in public. But if rehab is only a short time in a wellness spa and the causing behaviour is NOT changed; if children learn to think that drinking, drugs and rehab belong to a desirable lifestyle, then we will have two problems. Ethanol and Celebrities!
