When Emanuel Lundgren from Sveden made a song – in English – called ‘We are from Barcelona’ – which is in Catalonia, Spain – he only dreamed about it being a hit song. BUT – the quote ‘I am from Barcelona’ belongs to Manuel and we – the lifelong devotees of the Fawlty Towers cult – will fight for it! Manuel is the spanish bellboy of the Fawlty Towers hotel and Basil Fawlty’s punching bag. He is played by unforgettable Andrew Sachs, a british actor born in Germany. Fawlty Towers is the greatest British television programm, says the British Film Institute and one of Britain’s Best Sitcoms ever, says the BBC. And it’s Manuel who is from Barcelona and will continue to do so! (Sorry, Spaniards, I know you thought he is actually called Manolo and is from Italy… No, you are wrong. They tricked you.)
