Bradley Mason Hamlin wrote a wonderful article about Aquaman and uses him as an example for the devolution of classic characters. In Hamlin’s eyes the franchise was Frankensteined. His definition: Frankenstein (v). To take an established character and reinvent him by tearing apart his continuity and putting him back together with a darker aspect in an attempt to write like Frank Miller. He’s got a point and proofs it on his amazing tour through the life of the Sub-Mariner.
