Ball Chair vs. Sphere Chair

I wrote about the Egg-Chair some days ago, but felt unsure if this was REALLY the design I knew from my childhood, so I checked reality for some hours. The inventor of this unparalleled sensation of uncomfortable sitting is Eero Aarnio, who designed the first Ball Chair in 1963. It was a revolutionary design, because plastic and fibreglass were new materials in the design of furniture. The upbeat seventies embraced the design with enthusiasm and the original ball chair still sells quite good, though it costs about 5000 $.
Cheaper is the so called Sphere Chair, a clone of the original design, but the first one with built in speakers, which rips a 2000 $ hole in your pension-scheme.
If you are a technical genius you could try to build one yourself, which will cost you about $ 500, as some fibreglass-guru in a design board estimates. Or you look for it on eBay.
Here is a link to “cheapio” Sphere Chair and here one to the original Ball Chair-site with links to outlets in the whole world. Now I can sleep again!
