The Black Mask Magazine
Truly an American Classic. “Also incorporating… Dime Detective, Dime Mystery, Strange Detective Mysteries, Terror Tales, Horror Stories, Adventure and Famous Fantastic Mysteries.” The Black Mask is one of the grandfathers of Batman (The Shadow being the other one) and was founded in 1920. Yes, it was a pulp magazine, but guess where Raymond Chandler’s first story was published? Now it has a wonderful website. (And I’d really like to read “Tooth Dentists from Tamarack.” BTW: Are there any other dentists but tooth dentists?) Link
